The birth of the project
Éclore à Sambailo is a support project for the village of Sambailo in the prefecture of Koundara in Guinea. It is in this village that Ibrahima Sow , the investigator of this project and co-founder of the association, spent his youth. It is this same place that he left in 2012 when he was 16 years old in the hope of finding solutions and opportunities in Europe to sustainably develop his native lands . In 2020, with the support of students from the Grenoble management school, the project sees the light of day. To support the latter, the Éclore à Sambailo association was created!
This project is taking place in the Republic of Guinea , a territory framed by Guinea Bissau, Senegal, Mali, Côte d'Ivoire, Sierra Leone and Liberia. A country that struggles to grow its natural resources, and poverty is high. Guinea remains at the bottom of the HDI ranking, occupying the 175th place out of 189 countries in 2018, more than half of Guineans (53%) would live below the national poverty line (which is 0.9 EUR / person / day) . In Guinea, 7 children out of 10 at the national level ( 9 children out of 10 in rural areas) are simultaneously deprived of at least 3 dimensions, of their fundamental rights (Education, Health, Water, Hygiene, Sanitation, Nutrition, Housing, Protection against violence, Information). In the same vein, according to the latest report on monetary poverty in Guinea (ELEP 2012 from the National Institute of Statistics (INS)), 60% of children belong to poor households and 54.7% of the poor. in Guinea are children .
This project aims to support more particularly the village of Sambailo in the prefecture of Koundara which covers an area of 5,500 km2 for a population of 130,205 inhabitants. Agriculture, breeding and commerce constitute the main economic activities of the prefecture. Populated by a pastoralist population, agriculture and commerce seem to take precedence over animal husbandry. In addition, market gardening and agroforestry activities are increasingly visible and bring stable income to populations who have decided to stay in their localities.

The intervention area
A study carried out to observe the needs
In addition to this, you will need to know more about it.
The object of the association is therefore the sustainable development of the community of Sambailo, a particularly precarious area as we have seen through an analysis of the needs within the homes of Sambailo center, carried out by us in August 2020, during the Covid crisis.
The results indicate that before the epidemic, the average income was around 700 euros per year. These resources were invested in consumption for food, in health costs, in school fees and in the outputs necessary for the seasonal agricultural campaigns of the rice, market gardening, peanuts and livestock sectors.
In view of the health emergency, the project aims to strengthen the resilience capacities of households in Sambailo, in the prefecture of Koundara in Guinea and specifically to support the education of children, health security and the economic activities of the households. of this area.
Support the education of children
One of the three main objectives of our intervention is oriented towards supporting the school attendance rate and improving the working conditions of schoolchildren in Sambailo. School dropouts are common, especially during the monsoon periods during which children are conscripted for farm work. The low rate of schooling and the fact that it is unfortunately quite rare to see a schoolboy continue and finish the complete school cycle , pushes us to intervene to fight against these facts. For this we plan to create a local awareness campaign via radio and promote community events to encourage parents to send their children to school. We also want to allow these children to study in better conditions, for this we will organize a collection of school supplies such as books, pencils, notebooks ...
Promote economic and sustainable development
In this particularly poor area, our ambition is to revive the local economy, in particular by helping more than 100 households in difficulty. The objective is also to relieve these families in terms of quality of life and workload so that their children can go to school. In a sector where agricultural activity represents the majority of income and allows food self- sufficiency, we will provide these families with market gardening kits to meet their needs.
Respond to health issues
The COVID crisis affects, as elsewhere, this village, moreover the health situation, especially for schoolchildren, is worrying in this region. So that they are in the best conditions to work and to fight against COVID 19, we will buy and distribute in schools 150 kits for the hygiene of these children and their families (hand washes, masks and hydroalcoholic products). especially).
For this project we need you!
This beautiful project operates solely on the principle of solidarity. We are counting on your sensitivity and your humanity to change things and to give, in particular to the children of Sambailo and to future generations, the chance to be able to more serenely realize their dreams and ambitions. Ibrahima had to leave to prevent this from happening again. Making a donation is a small gesture with big consequences for the families of Sambailo
